Formula E – Season 11

Dateline London – July 27th 2025

Formula E reports: Nick Cassidy signed off for Jaguar TCS Racing in style with a dominant Round 16 victory at a packed Excel London. Cassidy crossed the line 13.5 seconds ahead of Mahindra Racing's Nyck de Vries. Sebastien Buemi (Envision Racing) was third here - up from 19th on the grid at the outset. That meant Porsche secured their maiden Teams' and Manufacturers' World Championship titles.

JTCSR: Jaguar TCS Racing made it two wins from two on home soil, and took its fourth victory in a row, as Nick Cassidy led from start to finish in his last race for the team in the 2024/25 season finale. Cassidy took his third win in as many races to snatch second place in the Drivers’ World Championship in the final round of the campaign. The Jaguar TCS Racing #37 led all the way from first on the grid. Nick was helped to that duels final by teammate Evans backing off when they went head‑to‑head in the semi‑final – a generous gesture. After the race start, and despite a Full Course Yellow period and a four‑lap stint behind the Safety Car, Nick was fully in command as he claimed his sixth win in Jaguar TCS Racing colours in his final outing for the team and his eleventh win overall in Formula E.

Nick was followed home on the road by team‑mate Mitch, who held off strong pressure from Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries throughout after moving up from third place on the grid. After defending expertly from cars behind, the Jaguar TCS Racing #9 looked set to take the team’s first one‑two of the season in outgoing Team Principal James Barclay’s final race with the team he launched in 2015. However, a five‑second time penalty for a speeding infringement in the Full Course Yellow period denied Mitch and Jaguar TCS Racing a sensational double podium, and the Kiwi was classified fifth at the chequered flag. A sixth win of the campaign for Jaguar TCS Racing, added to Envision Racing’s Sébastien Buemi taking victory in Monaco, made it seven overall for the season for Jaguar, also ensuring they leapt above Nissan on the final day to take runners‑up in the Manufacturers’ World Championship.

Dateline London – July 26th 2025

Formula E reports: Nick Cassidy took the win in Round 15 on his swansong weekend for Jaguar TCS Racing, with Mahindra's Nyck de Vries and Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein following the New Zealander home.

JTCSR: Nick Cassidy scored an excellent win for Jaguar TCS Racing on home soil at the London E‑Prix. Nick climbed from fifth on the grid to take his second career win at the ExCel London. Mitch Evans had started the team’s home event from the front of the grid after a superb qualifying performance, taking top spot by just under two tenths of a second from de Vries. A decisive move from Nick at the start moved the Kiwi into P4 and, despite a first lap safety car, when the race resumed the positions throughout the field were largely unchanged until the Pit Boost window opened and kickstarted a hive of activity, with Nick making his Pit Boost stop one lap later with Mitch still retaining first place. The Jaguar TCS Racing #9’s progress was halted, however, after taking Attack Mode, with Mitch then losing ground. The resultant time lost meant that when Mitch took his Pit Boost stop, he returned to the track down in eighth place. A spin, after contact from Kiro’s Dan Ticktum, then dropped the #9 driver out of the points. However,  Mitch continued to fight and climbed back up to P10 in the closing stages. Nick had leapt up the order into second once the Pit Boost strategies had concluded behind de Vries with eight‑minutes of Attack Mode still to take whilst the Dutchman ahead had run out of Attack Mode deployments. The crucial move was made on lap 28 with the #37 driver moving into the lead. Nick held on for his tenth career Formula E win despite another Safety Car period in the closing stages.

Dateline Berlin – July 13th 2025

JCTSR notes: An incredible drive from Nick Cassidy saw the Jaguar TCS Racing #37 take victory in Round 14, despite starting from the tenth row of the grid. In a race where energy management and team strategy was critical, Cassidy and Jaguar TCS Racing delivered a masterclass to climb from 20th on the grid to take a remarkable victory, Cassidy’s ninth in Formula E, and move up to fourth in the Drivers’ standings after his second win of the campaign. The Kiwi, who has scored more points than anyone else in Formula E in the past eight races with 92, also took the fastest lap on the way to victory in Germany, his third in total in the German capital. Team‑mate Mitch Evans secured a strong fifth place, moving up from ninth on the grid and fought for a top‑three finish throughout, but the Jaguar TCS Racing #9 narrowly missed out on a podium finish by just over two seconds.

Dateline Berlin – July 12th 2025

Says Jaguar Racing: Mitch Evans secured his second win of the season at the Berlin E‑Prix, heading home Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein by less than half a second to return to the top step in Germany. The Jaguar TCS Racing #9’s victory was taken after starting from pole position, having been the class of the field in wet conditions during qualifying. Mitch controlled the race from the start and expertly built up a gap on a damp track of more than five seconds before a late Safety Car period wiped out his advantage, with one Attack Mode deployment still remaining. When the racing resumed with nine laps to run as rain returned to the Tempelhof Airport Circuit, Evans held off late pressure from Wehrlein to take an impressive victory and his second in Berlin for Jaguar TCS Racing.  The result means Evans now equals Sébastien Buemi as the driver with the most wins since Formula E began – 14 in total – and takes Jaguar TCS Racing’s fiftieth podium since the team joined the championship in 2016.

Team‑mate Nick Cassidy drove outstandingly to recover from the back row of the grid and a 10‑second ‘Stop and Go’ penalty to finish in the top five. After the penalties, which were incurred as a result of changing the Jaguar TCS Racing #37’s inverter at the Jakarta E‑Prix, Cassidy showed strong pace to move up the order into P15 before the Safety Car was brought out on Lap 29. When the race resumed, the Kiwi made remarkable progress in the closing stages to move up 10 positions in the final nine laps, utilising his two Attack Mode deployments superbly to claim his sixth points‑scoring finish in the last seven races.

Dateline Jakarta - June 21st 2025

Formula E reports: Dan Ticktum, who had started fifth in Round 12, navigated his way through a late Safety Car and two Full Course Yellows, having smartly made it beyond polesitter Jake Dennis through the second round of Attack Mode activations. From there, the CUPRA KIRO driver had Edo Mortara's Mahindra to fend off over the final four racing laps to a sprint finish and duly achieved  his first win in 60 starts. Nico Mueller (Andretti) wound up third - a 10-place gain on his starting slot.

JTCSR: Jaguar TCS Racing secured a top‑five finish in Indonesia, with Nick Cassidy finishing in fifth place. The Jaguar TCS Racing #37 was unfortunate not to finish higher up the order in the Jakarta E‑Prix, with safety car and full course yellow periods during both Attack Mode deployments, restricting the Kiwi’s progress up the order. Nevertheless, P5 ensures Cassidy’s consistent form continues with his fourth point‑scoring finish in the previous five races. Mitch Evans finished outside of the points in P12, nursing heavy damage to the rear end of his Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 for much of the race after an error under braking by DS Penske’s Jean‑Éric Vergne in the opening stages, for which Vergne received a time‑penalty.

Dateline Shanghai – June 1st 2025

Says FE: Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy converted from pole, leading every lap on the way to a first win of the season in Round 11 at a rain-soaked Shanghai International Circuit. That was a first lights-to-flag victory of the GEN3 Era and a return to the top step for the New Zealander. Reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein got the better of his teammate through the first round of ATTACK MODE activations; the German leading home Antonio Felix da Costa despite an early slip, as Porsche rounded out the podium. The difficult conditions caught out a number of Formula E champions with standing water significant in spots around the circuit throughout the race.

Jaguar TCS Racing: Nick Cassidy was peerless in Round 11 in Shanghai, taking both pole position and the race win. After severe wet weather conditions forced a race start behind the safety car following a 90‑minute delay, Cassidy’s pace in #37 when racing began properly on lap eight – backed up by perfect team strategy – meant he was never headed and crossed the line more than seven seconds in front of the field. Starting from P13 on the grid, Mitch Evans fought hard throughout the race but was unable to move forward into the points, finishing the race in P14.

Dateline Shanghai – May 31st 2025

Formula E: Maximilian Guenther headed home a first one-two for DS PENSKE, as teammate Jean-Eric Vergne sliced by two cars at the last to seal the deal in Shanghai. Polesitter Guenther cycled through Attack Mode and Pit Boost with energy in-hand and a successful overlap on those around him to stride to a comfortable seven-second advantage at the flag. Late pressure from Dan Ticktum (CUPRA KIRO) opened the door to Vergne - the double champion producing his own wizardry to jump by Barnard and Ticktum for second at the flag, leaving that pair third and fourth respectively.

Jaguar TCS Racing: Nick Cassidy started the grid in P4, after showing strong pace and getting through to the semi‑finals of the duels for the first time this season. However, a collision on lap two when Nick was hit by Mahindra driver Edoardo Mortara, resulting in a rear puncture, forced the #37 driver down the grid and an eventual finish of P21. Mitch Evans was required to serve a number of penalties in the first race in Shanghai, these caused by the need to take new parts following damage after a 26G impact from Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries in Tokyo. With no safety car giving any opportunity to move up the order, Mitch finished in P20.

Dateline Tokyo – May 18th 2025

Says Formula E: Nissan's Oliver Rowland recovered to the race win in Round 9 for his fourth victory of the season on home soil for the Japanese marque. The polesitter had slipped to sixth during a late jump for ATTACK MODE but he was able to make the final few seconds of his boost count as he sliced by then-leader Pascal Wehrlein. The Porsche pilot would have to settle for second, while early leader Dan Ticktum (CUPRA KIRO) was left ruing a late appearance by the Safety Car, but would be more than happy to secure his first Formula E silverware.

JTCSR: Nick Cassidy moved up from 13th on the grid to finish seventh in Round 9 in Japan. The #37 driver navigated his way through a closely fought second race of the Tokyo E‑Prix to claim his third consecutive points finish. Mitch Evans was unfortunately unable to take the start of the race following damage incurred after a crash in this morning’s qualifying session.

Dateline Tokyo – May 17th 2025

Says Formula E: Maserati MSG Racing's Stoffel Vandoorne took the win in a rain-affected Tokyo E-Prix Round 8 by clearing PIT BOOST at just the right time during an incident-packed race. The Belgian led Maserati's first laps of the season, as he emerged from the PIT BOOST stops with more than 30 seconds in-hand on next-best Oliver Rowland in Nissan's home race. Taylor Barnard pulled off a storming move around the outside of Turn 16, which allowed the NEOM McLaren driver to round out the top three.

JTCSR: In an incident‑packed Round 8, Nick Cassidy finished tenth and scored an additional point for fastest lap. He was promoted into the top 10 after Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries received a time penalty for contact with Mitch Evans, with the subsequent damage meaning the Kiwi was unable to continue. The Jaguar TCS Racing #9 had looked set for a strong points finish before being spun into the barriers by the Dutchman, while team‑mate Cassidy showed searing pace in the closing stages after changing tyres during a red flag stoppage.

Dateline Monaco – May 3rd 2025

Says Formula E: Nissan's Oliver Rowland picked his way through a frenetic closing third of the 2025 Monaco E-Prix Round 6 to drive to a comfortable win over Mahindra Racing's Nyck de Vries and Andretti's Jake Dennis. Rowland had slipped to fourth having taken his final ATTACK last of the front-runners. He was able to use this to his advantage to slice by the Andrettis and de Vries on Lap 27 through Sector 1 and in the tunnel, respectively. Those moves proved decisive as Rowland strode to a two second advantage come the chequered flag.

JTCSR: Round 6 of the 2024/25 Championship saw the return of mandatory Pit Boost mid‑race charging. An aggressive strategy from Nick Cassidy in the opening stages saw Jaguar #37 climb into the podium positions after starting from P19 on the grid. After taking his first Attack Mode early in the race and his Pit Boost charge before anyone else, Cassidy – who recorded the fastest lap of the race – was on course for a strong haul of points. However, a full course safety car immediately after negated his advantage. This was compounded by an energy setting error leading Nick to believe there were fewer laps left than there were. After running in the top‑eight during the opening laps, and with two Attack Modes still to deploy, what appears to be an issue with his Rechargable Energy Storage System halted Mitch Evans’ attempts for another strong result in Monaco. After stopping to reset his car Mitch dropped to last place, and was eventually able to continue. However, the lengthy setback ensured that Jaguar #9 was too far back to make significant progress.

Dateline Monaco – May 4th 2025

FE notes: Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi, piloting a Jaguar I-TYPE 7, strode to a comfortable win in Round 7 having started eighth on the grid in the Principality for his third win on the Riviera as he led home Nissan's Oliver Rowland and Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy. The Swiss stamped his authority on the final third of this race - having clambered his way through the pack in super slippery wet conditions, from eighth at lights out.

JTCSR Comments: After a very strong showing in the morning’s Free Practice session with Mitch fastest and Nick sixth, a treacherous wet qualifying session without time to fully switch to a wet set‑up saw both drivers eliminated in the group stages. As a number of teams used their Attack Modes very early in the 30‑lap race, Cassidy and the team were patient, taking their first two‑minute Attack on lap nine, and their second six‑minute Attack on lap 21. This patience paid off as Nick fought through the field and finished the race strongly in his #37 Jaguar, holding off Porsche’s António Félix da Costa in the closing stages to seal a top‑three finish. Mitch Evans made good progress in the early stages, climbing four positions with both Attack Mode deployments still to use. However, opting for an alternative strategy by pitting under the Safety Car period for tyres set to pressures suited to the dry did not pay off, with him finishing outside the points.

Dateline Miami – April 12th 2025.

Formula E notes: Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein sealed victory on Formula E's return to the Sunshine State in the 2025 Miami E-Prix. The reigning champion, his teammate Antonio Felix da Costa crossed the line second, but finished a net third, as time ran out for most of the pack to make use of their final, mandatory Attack Mode before the chequered flag was flown - due to a late-race Red Flag. Hence, Lucas di Grassi wound up a net second, to score Lola Yamaha ABT's first podium.

Jaguar TCS Racing: They, sadly,  finish the Miami E‑Prix outside of the points, after a difficult race that saw Nick Cassidy finish in P15 and Mitch Evans in P16. Nick and Mitch lined up in P13 and P14 respectively.  On lap 16, Nick activated four‑minutes of Attack Mode – switching his Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 from 300kW to 350kW and all‑wheel drive – and had begun moving up through the field when a safety car was deployed. This cost Nick the use of his remaining 1 minute and 30 seconds of Attack Mode advantage, severely compromising his race.  Later, during Lap 20, Mitch was caught up an incident between Maximilian Günther of DS Penske and Jake Hughes of Maserati. With these two cars stopped in front of him, Mitch had nowhere to go, the contact effectively ending his race. This incident instigated another safety car, followed by a red flag. The race restarted at 15:00 local time with Nick in P8, but with only four laps remaining. Despite crossing the line in 8th place, Nick unfortunately received a five‑second time penalty for exceeding track limits, confirming his final result at P15. Mitch, who was able to restart but from the back of the grid, finished P16.

Dateline: Jeddah – February 15th 2025

FE: Oliver Rowland (Nissan) made it count in the Jeddah E-Prix Round 4 having missed out at the last in Round 3, making the victory look comfortable in the end as polesitter Taylor Barnard (NEOM McLaren) fought off a late attack from Maserati MSG Racing's Jake Hughes. Formula E's youngest ever polesitter Barnard set the tone and led from the front early on but Rowland headed the way through the first round of two mandatory 50kW, four-wheel drive Attack Mode activations as well as the second. The Yorkshireman's masterclass saw him able to draw a cushion on those behind using Attack, all while managing to hold onto more energy than those around him for a second win of 2024/25. Barnard led in a couple of spells and was right in the mix for the win, but late pressure from compatriot Hughes meant the McLaren driver's attentions would have to turn to holding on to what he had. He did just that amid severe pressure from Hughes as Barnard defended aggressively and successfully through Turns 1 and 2 on the final lap to come home second. Hughes won't be displeased with a maiden podium for his new team, though.

JTCSR: An excellent recovery drive from Jaguar TCS Racing and Nick Cassidy saw the Kiwi claim his first points of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E season, climbing 12 places to finish fifth, under the lights in Jeddah. Teammate Mitch Evans had also made significant progress, running in eighth with energy to spare and with a final Attack Mode to take, he and the team were eyeing the top six and a possible podium finish. Unfortunately, a hardware issue with his brake by wire system, a common component in Formula E, ended his race and meant a frustrating end to what was a promising E‑Prix.

Dateline Jeddah – February 14th 2025

Formula E: DS PENSKE's Maximilian Guenther measured the inaugural 2025 Jeddah E-Prix Round 3 to the millimetre - on debut for Pit Boost - making the jump for the win at the final turn as he headed home Nissan's Oliver Rowland and NEOM McLaren's Taylor Barnard. The German sealed pole ahead of Round 3, his first since Jakarta 2024, and as the field flew away into the unknown - with Formula E's first ever energy-boosting pit stops, in Pit Boost, making their debut here in Jeddah - Guenther led early on from Rowland, Barnard and Mahindra Racing's Nyck de Vries. With just the final chicane to hold on, Rowland looked to have things sewn up but a dive left from Guenther, as the Nissan tried to hold onto what little energy he had left, was enough to see the DS through and firing to the line and the chequered flag.

JTCSR: Jaguar TCS Racing finished Round 3 outside of the top 10, with Nick Cassidy finishing just outside of the points in eleventh, while Mitch Evans had contact on the opening lap, resulting in damage which ruled him out of contention. Mitch qualified in P5, making it through to the Duels but lost out to McLaren's Taylor Barnard in the Quarter‑Finals stage by just 0.014s. Nick narrowly missed out on the Duels by just over a tenth of a second, ensuring he started the night race in P9.  In an incident‑packed first lap along the 3km Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Mitch was involved in contact with Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein and the Mahindra of Nyck de Vries, causing damage to his front wing. After trying to continue, the Jaguar TCS Racing #9 was forced to pit for repairs which resulted in Mitch dropping a lap down and receiving a five‑second time penalty for the contact. Rather than retire the car Mitch and the team used the remainder of the race to learn as much as possible for the next round.

Meanwhile, Nick Cassidy and the team also had a challenging race. In the initial phases Nick and his Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 looked strong, but quickly faced technical difficulties which significantly affected his performance. Managing the issue Nick and team did their best to minimize the loss of positions and in the end just missed out on championship points, finishing P11 at the end of what was a difficult race.

Dateline Mexico City – January 11th 2025.

FE reports: Nissan's Oliver Rowland produced late overtaking heroics to break a Porsche stranglehold in the 2025 Hankook Mexico City E-Prix Round 2; the Yorkshireman heading home Antonio Felix da Costa and Pascal Wehrlein. Rowland had placed himself well as the race headed towards its climax, when a stunning series of overtaking manoeuvres followed as the Porsche Taycan GT Safety Car peeled back into the pits and released the pack. He sliced by Dennis into Turn One, Wehrlein into the chicane with a late stamp on the brakes and made it beyond leader da Costa as the field headed into the Foro Sol stadium. The factory Porsche drivers each had a little energy in-hand over Rowland but neither were able to profit as the laps ticked down

Say JTCSR: In front of a sell‑out crowd of Formula E fans, at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mitch lined up on the grid in P5. On Lap 17, he took his first four minutes of Attack Mode which, for this season, triggers not only an extra 50kw of power, but also all‑wheel drive capability. With this activated, Mitch was able to climb six places to a promising P4 position. After the majority of the field had completed their Attack Mode activations, Mitch was in P8 with his final boost remaining and slightly up on energy to the cars in front of him. In the closing laps, as he was about activate his final Attack Mode, the Andretti of Nico Müller experienced a legality cut, causing Nico to slow dramatically. Despite Mitch doing his best to react, he was unable to avoid a collision and a retirement. Nick Cassidy started the race at the back of the pack in P22. On Lap 27, he activated his first six minutes of Attack Mode, but any opportunity was quickly taken away by the first Safety Car. Nick used his remaining two minutes of Attack Mode in Lap 34 before finishing the race in P12.

Dateline Sao Paulo – December 7th 2024

JTCSR reports: Mitch Evans won in São Paulo. The incredibly dramatic race followed a difficult qualifying session for both Jaguar drivers. At lights‑out, the new All‑Wheel‑Drive launch saw both drivers deliver a positive first lap with Nick moving up one place and Mitch progressing to P15 with a five‑car overtake in turn four. Executing Attack Mode early, Nick managed to take the lead of the race on Lap 8 and Mitch ran as high as third by the halfway point. A red flag on Lap 21 brought all drivers back into the pit lane, pausing the race. Upon restarting, Nick was in P6 and Mitch in P10, both with a second Attack Mode still to take. After taking his, Nick moved up the order and closed in on the race lead, taking back first place on Lap 28. Mitch had jumped up to second by this stage making it a Jaguar TCS Racing one‑two, and with some of his Attack Mode remaining he overtook Nick to take first place.

As the field bunched together, Nick was then sandwiched between DS Penske’s Maximilian Günther and Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein, the impact breaking his I‑TYPE 7’s steering. On the following corner Nick was then a passenger and unable to avoid a further impact with Wehrlein, which saw his car flip over bringing out another red flag. At the second restart, an amazing effort from Jaguar TCS Racing’s mechanics meant Nick was able to return to the race albeit in 15th place, only to be forced into retirement with a lap remaining, while Mitch held on to the lead for the remaining laps.

Season 11

The new seasons features a new version of last season's GEN3 car. Formula E describe the car: “Developed by specialists from Formula E and the FIA, the latest GEN3 Evo edition marks a significant leap in electric racing technology.
